Minneapolis police shoot woman wielding knife

(AP) - Minneapolis police shot and wounded a 47-year-old woman while answering a 911 call about a woman armed with a knife in an apartment.

Police say officers tried to use a Taser on the woman after she refused to drop the knife but were unsuccessful, and when the woman approached the officers with the knife they were forced to shoot her.

The woman was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Police say she suffered non-life-threatening injuries to her lower torso.

The officers are on standard paid leave while the incident is investigated.
