No charges in police shooting of Mankato man

The Blue Earth County Attorney says no criminal charges will be filed against a police officer who shot and killed a man who had broken into a Mankato apartment.

County Attorney Ross Arneson says after reviewing the case file, "criminal charges are not warranted."

Arneson made his comment in a letter to a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator.

Last December, 26-year-old Richard Thomas Vosburgh entered an apartment rented by three women. One woman was home, and Vosburgh attacked and threatened to rape her.

When officers arrived, authorities say Vosburgh came at them with broken glass. The officers were cut on the face and head before Vosburgh was shot.
