Police officers shoot man in Minneapolis

Police have shot and wounded a suspect who confronted them with a handgun in south Minneapolis.

Officers from the Minneapolis Police Department's Special Operations Division Patrol Unit spotted a carjacked vehicle and tried to stop it early Friday.

The car turned in to an alley and three occupants ran away.

Two of the officers and a K9 officer were searching for the suspects when they were confronted by a male suspect with a gun. Police say the officers were forced to fire on him.

He suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to HCMC.

The officers are on standard three-day paid administrative leave while police investigate. Names of the suspect and the officers are not available.
