During brief comments, the governor repeatedly linked the military to the event's theme of "The Power of Prayer."

"There are so many good causes and good reasons to pray but among those you'll keep at or near the top of your list a prayer for the men and women in the military and our veterans," Pawlenty said.

U.S. Representatives Jim Ramstad and Betty McCollum also read Bible passages during the event. Brad Anderson, CEO of Best Buy, delivered the keynote address.

This is the 48th year the Minnesota Prayer Breakfast has been held. It was created to mirror the annual National Prayer Breakfast, which is designed to be non-partisan and include people from diverse backgrounds.
