Senate votes to ban ticket-grabbing software
The Minnesota Senate backs a ban on software used by ticket brokers to jump in line and buy up blocks of concert tickets.
The Senate has given preliminary approval to legislation nicknamed the "Hannah Montana bill."
Many young Hannah Montana fans couldn't get tickets when teen sensation Miley Cyrus came to town last year, because brokers used the software to buy up tickets and resell them at higher prices.
The bill would outlaw that practice.
The sponsor, Sen. Ron Latz, says he hopes the bill will make it possible for members of the general public to get tickets to popular events.
A House vote on its version of the bill is pending.
