The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the 46th Street bridge over 35W is scheduled for removal this weekend.

To prepare for demolition, lanes on the bridge will close from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. today and tomorrow. The bridge will close after the Friday morning rush hour.

Removal of the bridge will require full closure of 35W in the area from 10 o'clock Friday night until Monday morning. The 46th Street bridge is scheduled to re-open in summer 2009.

MnDot reminds motorists that the Diamond Lake Road bridge and all of its ramps are now open. The 50th Street bridge remains closed and will re-open this fall.

The untangling of the 35W/Crosstown bottleneck is scheduled for completion in 2010.
