Woman commits suicide in Hennepin County jail

(AP) - An autopsy shows that a woman killed herself in the Hennepin County on Wednesday after she was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

The county medical examiner's office says the woman is 42-year-old Carolyn L. Dean of Minneapolis. The office ruled that she hanged herself.

Both the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and the county medical examiner's office say they are going to continue investigating the death.

The sheriff's office says the woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon by the State Patrol and later booked into the county jail.

The woman was placed in a holding cell by herself. A short time later, deputies went to check on her and found her unconscious.

They performed first aid and called paramedics, but she couldn't be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene.
