For the second weekend in a row, motorists in the south metro will face a major construction-related detour.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says 35W in Richfield will be closed in both directions between I494 and Crosstown Hwy 62 as crews demolish the 76th Street bridge.
The freeway is scheduled to close at 10:00 tonight and will reopen in time for the Monday morning rush hour.
Last weekend 35W was closed in south Minneapolis as part of the Crosstown reconstruction project. The new 76th Street bridge is scheduled to be completed in November.
