Drivers crossing the Mississippi River in Hastings will get a reprieve for the next couple of weeks.
The daytime lane restriction on the Highway 61 bridge over the Mississippi River in Hastings was lifted this week, and it will likely continue for up to two more weeks.
MnDOT has suspended a portion of work on the span while it awaits the delivery of steel needed to continue the repairs. The materials are expected to be on site within the next two weeks.
Some work on the bridge will continue, though, including repairs to concrete beams and the abutment beneath the south end of the bridge. However, those repairs won't require any lane restrictions.
Work on the bridge began in April.
MnDOT says it will replace the Highway 61 bridge in 2010.
