A construction company in Hudson, Wis., is preparing to host a presidential campaign appearance by Republican candidate John McCain.

The Arizona Republican will hold a town hall meeting Friday at the new headquarters of J&L Steel Erectors. The meeting will reportedly focus on the economic challenges faced by women.

J&L recently relocated to Hudson from Maple Grove, Minn. President and CEO LouAnne Reger says she was surprised that McCain wanted to come to her business and talk to an estimated 500 invited women.

"I'm ecstatic, ecstatic. I'm honored. I love a party, and I love to hostess things. And I think that they've chosen our building and chosen a women's format is extremely exciting."

Reger says she hopes to have some time to talk to McCain one on one. Reger says she'll urge him to support improvements in a federal program that assists women and minority contractors.

"There's not enough success in the program," she said. "There's not enough contractors like myself that have been successful that have been in business long enough."

Reger founded J&L Steel Erectors 30 years ago. The company is a subcontractor on the 35W bridge rebuild and the Wakota bridge project.
