Minnesota Public Radio's chief economics correspondent Chris Farrell discusses the latest economic news.

The nation's unemployment rate rose to a four-year high last month, but the report is not as bad as economists predicted. Employers cut 51,000 jobs, putting unemployment at 5.7 percent.

The jobs numbers are just the latest bad economic news to hit the headlines. The past several days has brought additional bank failures, growing inflation, and losses in the auto industry.
