There is a serious purpose behind a rather odd event this morning on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.
People will be pushing a bathtub on wheels - complete with shower steam and bathers.
Dr. Andrew Kiragu of Hennepin County Medical Center said the stunt is designed to focus public attention on traumatic brain injuries - most of which are caused by falls in places like bathtubs or showers.
"We do have a number of people who fall especially while they are getting in and out of the bathtub of shower. But they could fall from a bicycle or a height," Kiragu said.
Kiragu said there are 1.5 million traumatic brain injuries every year in the nation. He said simple precautions - like helmets for bikers - can lessen, if not eliminate, serious brain injury.
