Day two of the Republican National Convention gets underway in St. Paul today. Republicans staged a subdued opening to their convention yesterday, amid concern that Hurricane Gustav could significantly affect New Orleans and other areas along the Gulf Coast.
Organizers say former Senator Fred Thompson and independent Senator Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2000, will address the convention tonight. President Bush will also make an appearancy by satellite.
Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer talked with reporter Tom Scheck, who's been covering the convention.
