Commentary: Hidden treasures abound below Twin Cities bridges

One week after opening to traffic, the new 35W bridge is now certified as "substantially complete". The designation means there are only incidental changes left to make to the new bridge.

One of the changes drivers will see in the coming weeks is a new sign with a brown arrowhead on it that says "Mississippi National River and Recreation Area."

Similar signs are already up on other bridges all around the metro area.

Guest commentator Katie Nyberg, President of the Mississippi River Fund, is the one who put them there. She wants drivers to think about the natural ritches of the river valley below Twin Cities bridges.
