Vikings end losing streak against Packers
The Minnesota Vikings have moved into a first-place tie in their division on the strength of their one-point victory over the Green Bay Packers at the Metrodome.
Adrian Peterson ran twenty-nine yards for what proved to be the winning touchdown with less than two and a half minutes to play.
But the Vikings' 28 to 27 victory remained in doubt until the waning seconds when a 52-yard field goal attempt by the Packers sailed just wide of the goalpost.
Peterson rushed for 192 yards to help offset the three interceptions thrown by quarterback Gus Frerotte, each of which led to Green Bay points.
The Vikings' victory ended a streak of five straight losses to their arch rivals.
The win combined with a loss by the Chicago Bears allowed Minnesota to move into a first-place tie with Chicago in the National Football Conference's North Division.
The Vikings, who have five wins and four losses, continue their season Sunday with a road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
