Melamine warning expanded in Minnesota

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has expanded its warning about cookies containing the industrial chemical melamine. Melamine has been linked to health problems, and has been the subject of product recalls in China and Asia.

The Agriculture Department says three brands of Wonderfarm brand cookies sold in Minnesota, Royal Flavour Biscuits, Lovely Melody Biscuits and Daily Life Biscuits have tested positive for melamine.

Earlier this month, the department said Wonderfarm Successful cookies had tested positive for melamine.

Exposure to melamine can lead to kidney and urinary tract problems, but the state says no illnesses have been reported because of consumption of the cookies.

More information on the biscuits is available at the Department of Agriculture's web site.
