Police take search for missing man to Mississippi

Dive teams are expected to search the Mississippi River Wednesday for a missing St. Cloud man.

Police say 80-year-old Allen Brink, a retired St. Cloud State University professor, has been missing since early Monday.

Sgt. Gerry Edblad said a police dog tracked Brink's scent to a nearby dam. But he said divers were delayed because it takes more than 24 hours to shut down the hydro-electric plant.

"We concentrated our efforts doing an aerial search along the Mississippi. We also had boats on the water and after those two searches we broke into teams of officers, approximately a dozen officers, that searched the banks on foot," Edblad said.

Brink's car was found in the middle of the road, near the National Hockey Center, with an open door and keys in the ignition.
