(AP) - The Fergus Falls High School marching band has been selected to perform at President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration next month.

Marching band director Scott Kummrow broke the news to the students Monday morning. He's known about the selection since Friday and says he's had a tough time keeping the secret.

The band has about a month to prepare before leaving for Washington, D.C. They will play "Yankee Doodle" in the Jan. 20 festivities.

While the band prepares, the school and the community are raising money and making travel plans for 120 students and 20 chaperones.

The band directors submitted an application that included an audio recording and a video of past routines. They say 100 bands were selected for the inaugural parade.
