Software problems and human error has led to about 15,000 court cases since 2003 not getting transferred to the state Department of Public Safety.
The cases include some that the public safety department's Division of Driver and Vehicle Services might have punished with driver's license suspensions.
That means it's likely that not all the people who were supposed to have their licenses suspended for serious driving infractions received the punishment.
It isn't clear statewide how many license suspension cases were affected by the lapses.
State court officials say they're working with the Department of Public Safety to come up with a solution in the upcoming weeks.
