U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar plans to bring a gift to President Barack Obama tonight when she visits the White House to watch the Superbowl.
Klobuchar is among a handful of lawmakers and their families invited to watch the football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals with President Obamas. Klobuchar says she's bringing a personal family gift for Obama.
"I'm bringing the president a copy of the book that my dad wrote in the late 1970s called 'Will the Vikings Ever Win the Super Bowl,' and he inscribed it. I'm reading it here: For President Obama, after watching the bears this fall, I'm not sure I should be apologizing for the Vikings, but I will. Enjoy the big game," said Klobuchar.
Obama says he is rooting for the Steelers. Sen. Klobuchar says she plans to root for the underdog Cardinals.
Not only Cardinal the underdog, but "there is a hometown guy, Fitzgerald, who plays for the cardinals and I figure most of the fans, like my daughter, will be there siding with the president for the Steelers, so I thought we need to mix it up a little bit," said Klobuchar.
The lawmakers invited to join Obama include four senators and 11 representatives. The group includes 11 Democrats, four Republicans and three women.
