Later this week, Graywolf Press will release a book of poetry by Elizabeth Alexander, who recited one of her works at the inauguration of President Barack Obama. It is a boost for Graywolf, which is based in St. Paul, and the most visible sign of a thriving poetry scene in Minnesota. MPR'S Cathy Wurzer spoke with Morning Edition arts commentator, St. Paul Pioneer Press theater critic, and self-described poetry rube, Dominic Papatola about the state of poetry in the state.
