Commentator Frank Deford reflects on the state of sports

Author and sports commentator Frank Deford joins Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer for a conversation about sports today.

One of the most versatile of American writers, Deford's work has appeared in virtually every medium. The author of 15 books, DeFord can be heard as a commentator every Wednesday on public radio's Morning Edition and is a regular correspondent on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel." Deford is also senior contributing writer at Sports Illustrated and has twice been voted "Magazine Writer of The Year" by the Washington Journalism Review.
