Minnesota to receive more money for 2007 floods

(AP) - There's another $1 million coming to victims of the flash flooding in southeastern Minnesota in August 2007 from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The new grant money is to create temporary jobs to help flood clean-up and restoration, including clearing storm debris from streambeds.

The state Department of Employment and Economic Development announced the grant on Wednesday.

It's for residents of Fillmore, Houston and Winona counties who lost jobs as a direct result of the flooding.

It's in addition to the $3 million the state got in 2007 to create temporary jobs for clean-up, repair and restoration efforts. More information is available at Workforce Development Flood Employment Centers in Rushford, Caledonia and Preston, and the Winona Workforce Center.
