Enbridge Energy plans to begin hiring 3,000 workers next month to help build two big pipeline projects in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Enbridge spokeswoman Denise Hamsher said the Alberta Clipper and Southern Lights pipelines will be built simultaneously.

Work is already underway on the Alberta Clipper line. It will stretch 1,000 miles from Superior, Wis. to the Alberta oil sands in Canada. The Southern Lights pipeline will cover nearly 700 miles from Chicago to northwestern Minnesota.
