One person was found dead after a fire in a Coon Rapids home Tuesday.
Coon Rapids Fire Chief John Piper says a Minnesota State Patrol trooper saw smoke in the neighborhood around 2:30 p.m. and found a house on fire near 98th Lane and Butternut Street. Piper says the trooper tried to enter, but it was too hot.
Firefighters arrived and knocked down the flames in minutes. The victim was found dead inside.
The victim's identity has not been released.
Neighbors tell KSTP-TV the resident was a man in his early 80s, and had just started living on his own again after losing his wife last year.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
