Minnesota Zoo goes smoke-free this weekend

The Minnesota Zoo is banning outdoor smoking beginning Saturday.

The zoo has long prohibited smoking inside buildings, but had previously allowed smoking outside.

The zoo says its new policy will allow people to light up only in its main parking lots.

Nearly two-thirds of all zoos and aquariums accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums are entirely smoke free or have designated smoking areas.

The zoo says guests that wish to smoke can get a hand stamp at guest services in order to get back on the grounds.
