Pawlenty to speak at state VFW convention

Gov. Tim Pawlenty is the featured speaker today at the state VFW convention, allowing him to face an audience he spared from budget cuts.

Pawlenty says he protected veteran and military programs from $2.7 billion in budget cuts. The governor announced the cuts as part of a plan to erase a projected deficit.

The Republican governor addresses delegates to the state VFW convention in Rochester.

The convention runs through Saturday and includes the election of the new VFW state commander and president.
