18-year-old St. Paul man shot, killed

An 18-year-old man has been shot and killed in St. Paul and police are investigating if it was gang related.

In a news release, St. Paul police say Dionte Ramone Montantes, of St. Paul, was shot while walking on the street in the 1000 block of Iglehart Ave. around 5:30 p.m Friday. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he later died.

Police say the shooting may have been gang related. No arrests have been made.

Police Chief John Harrington says he has directed the department's gang unit to increase pressure on rival gang members to try to decrease the violence.
