An Eagan man was sentenced today to 98 months in prison for embezzling over $165,000 from his employer.
Michael Ray Sauve worked as a controller for Bankers Mortgage in Burnsville, where he embezzled the funds from 2002 to 2008. Sauve, 43, wrote checks from company accounts and deposited company money into his Health Savings Account and 401k plan.
Sauve, 43, pled guilty in May to four counts of theft and one count of theft by swindle. He had previously been convicted of stealing over $100,000 from an Eagan employer.
"To do this once is bad enough, but to do the same thing again to another employer is unconscionable," Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said.
