Prosecutors to dismiss charges against Minn. coach

Koochiching County prosecutors intend to dismiss a criminal sexual conduct charge against a former high school basketball coach in northern Minnesota.

Prosecutors filed a motion Monday that says they will dismiss the charge against 39-year-old Robert Jay Stueven of Mizpah, provided he's not charged with any similar conduct in the next year.

His attorney, Jay Pederson of Bemidji, says his client is pleased with the decision. Stueven has denied the allegations since the charges were filed in January.

Stueven was put on paid administrative leave after the charges were filed. Pederson says his job as the head coach of the Northome/Kelliher boys' basketball team has since been eliminated.
