Ex-teacher cleared of indecent exposure charges

A former teacher at Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School accused of exposing himself to a busload of girls has been cleared.

District Judge Kevin Mark dismissed the charges against Joseph Halvorson.

The judge said Halvorson couldn't be guilty since the incident happened when he was still logged onto the school computers.

In April 2008, a man drove alongside a school bus carrying a Cannon Falls girls' softball team to Rochester and exposed himself. After the incident, witnesses said the motorist slowed down and his vehicle disappeared from their view. Some time later they saw a similar-looking vehicle and took note of the license plate.

The license plate led investigators to Halvorson. Halvorson told police that while he drove a car that matched the one described, he didn't expose himself.
