The North Dakota National Guard is holding a send-off ceremony in Fargo for soldiers preparing to leave for a year of duty in a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.
The event at the Fargo Civic Center is for about 300 soldiers with the 231st Maneuver Task Force.
A similar ceremony was held earlier in Bismarck to recognize the other North Dakota soldiers taking part in the mission. Units are based in Valley City and Fargo.
About 700 North Dakota Guard soldiers will begin leaving for Kosovo this weekend. The Guard says it is the single-largest mobilization of North Dakota soldiers since Korea.
