GOP gubernatorial candidates gather in Roseville today

Republicans in a cluster of St. Paul suburbs are inviting a pack of GOP gubernatorial hopefuls to a picnic on Thursday.

Organizers of the Roseville event say they expect nine declared candidates for governor to drop by. They're billing their picnic as the largest gathering of the 2010 candidates to date.

Republicans in Rochester hosted a forum earlier this month involving many of the candidates.

The race is crowded but unsettled after GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty ruled out a third term.

The event in Roseville's Central Park is hosted by Republicans in 12 communities.
