DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar is urging Minnesotans who can afford to upgrade their cars to take advantage of the "cash for clunkers" program before it expires on Monday.

Klobuchar is visiting several car dealerships Friday to promote the program. She said the more federal money that ends up in Minnesota, the better.

"Minnesota has one of the highest ranks, we're in the top ten of use of this program and it's a way that we're going to be able to get some of this federal money in our state so I want to encourage people if they can and want to there's only three days left here," Klobuchar said.

During a visit to a Bloomington dealer, sales people thanked Klobuchar for the cash for clunkers program.

Klobuchar also spoke with some customers.

"It's always good to get your share and more which we are doing here for our population," she said. "I think part of it is that Minnesotans keep their cars for a long time. They're smart."

The Obama administration says the "cash for clunkers" program will end at 7:00 p.m. CST Monday.
