A 20-year-old New Brighton woman was jailed after a fatal crash in St. Paul.
Police Sgt. Paul Schnell said the crash happened early Sunday as officers were clearing out a parking lot known to be a place where people go to watch drag races. Officers saw a car, driven by the New Brighton woman, speed out of the lot.
The spokesman said the car ran a red light and T-boned another car on University Avenue. The driver of that car, a 39-year-old man, died at the scene.
Schnell said it wasn't immediately clear whether the woman knew an officer was following her.
The suspect was treated for minor injuries and taken to the Ramsey County Jail. She's being held on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation.
Police said they don't believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
