A jury has found a Minneapolis man not guilty in the death of a 28-year-old man during a Robbinsdale home invasion.
The jury acquitted George Cornelius Watkins of all counts on Tuesday in the death of Jamis Marks, who was killed at his home on New Year's Day of 2008. Marks, his wife, and two of their friends were in the home when two men knocked on the door, burst inside and demanded jewelry and cash.
Prosecutors had accused Watkins of dragging Heather Marks around the house and threatening to sexually assault her. Watkins' attorney had argued in court that most of those pointing fingers at Watkins were known to lie to law enforcement.
Another man, 28-year-old Keith Merchand Hemphill, faces trial in early 2010.
