Livestock Investment Grant Program revived

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is bringing back one of its most popular recent offerings - the Livestock Investment Grant Program.

After the program was unveiled last year, grant requests were 11 times the amount available. Because of the strong interest, the department is offering it again this year.

The grants help livestock producers offset the costs of improving or expanding their operations. Qualifying producers are reimbursed 10 percent of the first $500,000 of investment, with a minimum investment of $4,000.

The grants will be awarded competitively through an evaluation committee. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 30.
