Graves of 6 siblings slain by mother finally marked

The graves of six young siblings strangled by their mother in 1998 finally have permanent, visible markers.

Until now, the graves of the children, ages 5 to 11 years, had not been marked at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Maplewood. The family could not afford the tombstones.

But, after a Pioneer Press columnist wrote about the unmarked graves last fall, local residents stepped up to help. Schoenrock Monument of St. Paul donated the stone markers, which include each child's name and dates of birth and death.

About 100 people gathered at the cemetery Sunday afternoon to remember the children and mark their graves.

Khoua Her was sentenced to 50 years in prison for killing her three sons and three daughters - 11-year-old Koua Eai Hang, 9-year-old Samson Hang, 8-year-old Nali Hang, 7-year-old Tang Long Hang, 6-year-old A-ee Hang, and 5-year-old Tang Kee Hang.
