Lawmakers examine Metro Gang Strike Force

Lawmakers are continuing to look at issues surrounding lapses in the Metro Gang Strike Force.

Members of public safety committees in the House and Senate will hold a joint hearing Tuesday to discuss the allegations of misconduct outlined in reports by the legislative auditor and by an independent panel.

The chairpersons of the public safety committees say they are committed to a fair and bi-partisan discussion of the allegations. They also say gang prevention must remain a priority.

The committees will focus on repairing public trust and ensuring a similar situation doesn't happen again.

The Metro Gang Strike Force has been shut down and over a dozen officers are facing internal review after allegations of evidence mishandling. The FBI is also investigating.
