Minnesota gambling group wants to authorize e-bingo

A statewide charitable gambling organization is pushing the potential of electronic bingo to raise cash for causes.

Allied Charities of Minnesota hosts a meeting with regional charitable gambling organizations in Brainerd on Wednesday.

Lawmakers could take up the issue when the Legislature convenes in February. Bills to allow electronic bingo are already pending.

Dick Horn, the group's president, says allowing bingo to go online would bring the game into the 21st century. He says it would also help charitable gambling programs as they struggle with taxes and rising costs.
