Rep. Ellison holding home loans forum in Minneapolis

Rep. Keith Ellison will hold a forum in Minneapolis on Monday night to address concerns from local homeowners about the slow pace of loan modifications.

Many homeowners have reported problems obtaining loan modifications, despite the $75 billion federal Home Affordable Modification Program designed to assist with mortgage refinancing.

"Frustrated by the slow pace of relief and the high cost of many loan modification plans, many homeowners have been calling, writing and emailing Congress," Ellison said in a statement.

The "Foreclosures: Identifying Problems and Sharing Solutions" forum will feature a panel discussion about the foreclosure crisis. HUD-certified housing counselors will also be available before the discussion to provide information about government programs.

The event will be held at the Center for Changing Lives, 2400 Park Ave S. The resource fair begins at 5:30 p.m. The panel discussion will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
