Teen killed in collision with school bus

An 18-year-old died after the car she was riding in collided with a school bus carrying the Ely High School football team.

The State Patrol says the crash happened on Highway 169 in Coleraine about 3:30 p.m. Friday when the car pulled out in front of the bus while crossing the highway.

The Patrol says Emerald R. Foss of Bovey was airlifted to a Duluth hospital where she later died in the emergency room.

An 18-year-old driver and another 16-year-old passenger also were injured and airlifted to Duluth hospitals in critical condition.

The Patrol says the bus driver suffered a minor injury. None of the 23 players or three coaches on the bus were injured.

Officials canceled Friday night's homecoming game and dance at Onamia High School.
