North Dakota State president resigning
North Dakota State University President Joseph Chapman, who has been at the center of controversy over the cost of his new home and a trip to Washington, D.C., says he is resigning next year.
Chapman says he has sent his letter of resignation to the state Board of Higher Education and told his cabinet at NDSU that his resignation will take effect next Jan. 2.
He told The Associated Press: "I have been thinking about this for a while. Given all the stuff that is going on, for the institution and especially for the students, the people who really matter in all this, it's just time to do something else."
Chapman added, "It just isn't fun."
Chapman has been president of the Fargo university for a decade.
