A seven-hour standoff in Hudson ended Sunday when a gunman who fired at his son and other teens was shot by sheriff's deputies.
St. Croix sheriff's officials say the 43-year-old man repeatedly fired his pistol at his 19-year-old son during an argument. Three of his friends, ages 13 to 15, hid in the basement. Hudson police say the father then fired multiple rounds in the basement. The teenagers escaped through a basement window.
Officers fired pepper spray into the house about 1 a.m. Sunday. The 43-year-old gunman responded by firing at deputies in the back of the house. He was wounded when officers returned fire.
The father then walked out the front door and pointed his pistol at officers before he was shot again.
A nursing supervisor at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., said the man was in critical condition early Monday.
