Man dies after being hit by train in Winona

A 51-year-old Winona man has died after being hit by a train early this morning, police said. Winona Police Chief Paul Bostrack said the incident happened at about 6:45 a.m.

Witnesses told police that the man was walking across the tracks at Johnson St., when he was struck by an eastbound Canadian Pacific Rail train. He was dead at the scene. The man's name was not immediately released.
