Police at the University of Minnesota have issued a crime alert after a student was robbed and assaulted at a restaurant near the Minneapolis campus.
Police said the 18-year-old student had gone to the Leaning Tower of Pizza restaurant on University Avenue Wednesday to meet someone who was interested in buying a phone he had for sale. The student had placed an ad for the phone online.
When the potential buyer was examining the phone, another man shot the student in the face with a pellet gun. Both men then fled on foot, police said.
The student was not seriously injured but was treated at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview.
The Minneapolis Police are investigating the robbery.
