Turnout light at Minneapolis H1N1 vaccination clinics

Turnout was light at four H1N1 vaccination clinics held last night at four Minneapolis elementary schools.

The Minneapolis Department of Health says it immunized 440 children at Sheridan, Sullivan and Ramsey Fine Arts Elementary schools and Cityview Performing Arts Magnet school.

City Health Commissioner Gretchen Musicant says she doesn't think the low turnout means that people have found the vaccine elsewhere.

"I think the demand might be more a feeling that families have about whether or not they've already been exposed to it or if it's still prevalent in the community," Musicant said. "I think it to do more with other decisions families are making."

The MDH still has almost 6,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine available and is holding clinics today at three more Minneapolis elementary schools. Leftover vaccine will be redistributed to community clinics.
