Minn. business leaders win prestigious awards

Two prominent Minnesota business leaders are the recipients of a pair of prestigious awards.

William Austin of Starkey Laboratories and former General Mills chairman Stephen Sanger will accept the awards from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars at the Smithsonian Institution. Austin is receiving the Award for Corporate Citizenship while Sanger takes home the Award for Public Service.

Starkey Laboratories is a world leader in the manufacture of hearing aids, which its foundation distributes to needy people around the world. Sanger led General Mills for 13 years ending in 2008.

The Woodrow Wilson International Center was established by Congress in 1968 to facilitate dialogue on national and international issues.

Austin and Sanger will accept their awards at a Wednesday dinner in Minneapolis.
