Snow emergencies were declared Wednesday in Minneapolis, St. Paul and several suburbs.

In Minneapolis, city officials warned that cars parked on snow emergency routes could be ticketed or towed between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday. Parking rules for non-snow emergency routes were to take effect Thursday and Friday.

In St. Paul, no parking is allowed after 9 p.m. Wednesday on streets that have signs marked "night plow route." Parking is prohibited on Thursday after 8 a.m. on streets that have signs that say "day plow route."

Mankato, Eden Prairie, Bloomington and Mendota Heights also have declared snow emergencies.
