Ham Lake standoff ends in man's death

A police standoff in Ham Lake has ended with the death of a man in this 70s and a police dog.

It started Wednesday afternoon and lasted through Thursday morning, when officers entered the house and found the man dead from a gunshot wound.

Authorities says it's not clear if the man shot himself or was hit by police gunfire when officers entered the house earlier in the morning.

In that raid, officers threw a chemical irritant into the house and entered with a police dog. Shots were fired and officers withdrew. The dog was killed.
